In which it’s weird.
Being this close to the time line means that the sun is still (just barely) above the horizon at nine PM. It causes us to eat dinner really, really late. And we tend to stay up until eleven or twelve every night.
I bet it’s awesome to be a kid here ’cause it’s light sooooo late during summer vacation!

Last summer I was touring in Scandanavia, where it would never get completely dark, and the sun would start coming up again at 3 AM. I was on a rock and roll schedule which meant being up ubntil 4:30 AM most nights and waking up at noon or so. Really weird.
I’m not so sure I’d like that. I have strong expectations when it comes to the behavior of the sun: I want it under the damned horizon when it’s supposed to be dark out. -m
Strong expectations of the sun? Thanks for my first giggle this morning!
You’re most welcome! *smooch* -m
it is fun for kids, unless your parents insist that you be inside the house and in bed by 9 pm when sunset (as it is today) is at 9:31pm and twilight lasting until after 10. then there’s sunrise at 4:30 or so. then again, it’s better than sunset at 4 pm and sunrise at 9. at least i get to see sunshine.
in summer we tell boy to be in when the street lights come on. he’s usually in earlier than that though.
