talk_google.gifNot that I needed yet another IM application, but I downloaded Google Talk today anyway.

It’s adorable. If you have a gmail account, you can use it too. (It’s still in beta.) My gmail addy is mushmook@gmail.

If you need a gmail account, let me know, I’ve still got invites.

I down loaded Google Talk and it installed OK and all but it doesn’t work. Gives me a ‘Can’t authenticate to server’ message. I’ve got a request into support but they want me to configure “Google Talk – Settings – Connection – ‘Use the following proxy’. ”

I can’t (don’t want to) do that because I’ve got everything on the computer set to ‘Detect proxy automatically’ and don’t want to change that since that works the best when I’m searching for free Wi-Fi hotspots and also, I don’t know what the host name or port or usr name or password ARE for the connection I’m using (wandering business – Gypsy Journal – here in the RV park).

The connection I’m using WORKS without using proxy settings so why doesn’t Google Talk? Can’t use it for now.

  7. Are you actually running a proxy?
